I love Santa Cruz and I’ve always wanted to go to a show at The Catalyst. Luckily a great reggae band from Santa Barbra, California put on an amazing show last Sunday night. They are called Rebelution. Pep Love started the night right as the opening act, getting the crowd going. The Green came on next and rocked the stage. I’ve never heard them before but after that performance, they definitely caught my attention. The Catalyst was buzzing with excitement after The Green finished their set. What I loved about The Catalyst was the energy I felt inside. The venue isn’t huge, it has a bar, a pizza place and barricades for the drunk 21+. It was easy to be at the very front and rock out to your favorite band. Everyone was so nice around, even if most of them were under the influence of something. Peace, Love and Reggae. Finally Rebelution came on, going strong with their opener, a member on the saxophone with a spotlight shining on him. They played a 90 minute set playing new and old songs that everyone could enjoy. I knew a bunch of their songs which made shooting pictures of them even more fun. They sounded great and put you into a happy, relaxed mood that made you want to listen to them all night. For the complete sets of all the pictures from the night and previous shows, check out my galleries here.
